Private Piano Teacher Charged with Sexually Assaulting a Student

A man who provided private piano lessons in Kelowna was recently charged with sexually assaulting one of his students. The RCMP’s Child Abuse Unit is investigating whether there are more victims.

Their investigation started in February 2021 and resulted in charges of sexual assault and sexual interference. The RCMP stated that the incidents occurred within the accused’s home over an eight-month period.

The piano lessons were conducted both online and in-person, making it difficult for the RCMP to confirm how many students he taught. The accused was released on conditions prohibiting him from having any contact with individuals under 16 years of age, for any reason. On April 22, 2022, criminal charges were approved by Crown Counsel and the accused will appear in court on June 16, 2022.
