Slater Vecchio is a well-known law firm based in Vancouver with a growing Montreal office. We are looking for a bi-lingual (English and French) Legal Administrative Assistant for our Montreal office.

Job Description

The Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing full clerical, administrative, and general office work that relates to the day-to-day support for lawyers and paralegals.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an electronic filing system and bring-forward tracking system for limitation and follow-up dates, including calendar management;
• Draft and edit various legal correspondence, court forms and documents;
• Send finalized correspondence and exhibits to DC and court;
• Contact initial leads in Class Action marketing campaigns and assist with making outbound calls to qualified leads;
• Assist with maintaining detailed records of class member contacts;
• In collaboration with our paralegal, create templates and standardize legal documents for efficiency, including document formatting;
• Assist with labelling references and exhibits and maintaining checklists;
• Sort and process incoming mail;
• Create paper and electronic binders;
• Print pleadings in preparation for personal service;
• Primary reception contact and assisting with office inventory;
• Assist with translation on an as-needed basis.

Education and Experience

• Graduation from a Legal Admin Assistant Program from an accredited college;
• A minimum of 2 years of Legal Administrative Experience in litigation or class actions.

Knowledge and Skills

• Professionally bi-lingual in French and English;
• Exceptional attention to detail and adept at setting priorities;
• Strong organizational and time management skills;

• An energetic self-starter who initiates and anticipates needs;
• Exceptional flexibility and adaptability to an ever changing work environment;
• Ability to remain calm under pressure;
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
• Confident and dependable, with strong ability to work both independently and in a team.
