Slater Vecchio LLP Initiates Class Action Lawsuit Against Omio for Alleged Failure to Disclose Service Fees

Slater Vecchio LLP, has commenced a class action lawsuit against Omio, an online travel platform. The lawsuit alleges that Omio’s failure to disclose the service fees charged on online ticket purchases at the outset of the ticket purchasing process constitutes false and misleading advertising.

Slater Vecchio LLP is alleging that Omio engages in the practice of “price dripping” through its online ticket sales platform, potentially violating Canada’s Competition Act. “Drip pricing” occurs when the initial price advertised by a company does not reflect the final price at checkout due to the inclusion of non-government-imposed fees, such as service fees, process fees, or improvement fees.

“When you buy something, you shouldn’t have to guess at its true and final cost,” said Slater Vecchio partner Sam Jaworski. “And yet, companies are using these back-door service fees to boost their bottom line at the customer’s expense. We’re not prepared to let that stand.”

Individuals who have purchased tickets through Omio are encouraged to retain any relevant documentation, such as receipts or records of purchases.
