Recall Alert: Baby Gourmet Organic Banana Raisin Oatmeal Baby Cereal

Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency have announced a Canada-wide recall of Baby Gourmet Organic’s Banana Raisin Oatmeal, a whole-grain baby cereal. The recall was initiated due to potential contamination of these products with Cronobacter spp., a bacterium that can pose serious health risks, especially to newborns and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The recall was initiated following testing conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. As of July 20, 2024, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has not reported any illnesses associated with the consumption of the recalled baby cereal. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and to throw it out to prevent future accidental use.

An infection with Cronobacter spp. is particularly worrying among newborns, as it can cause severe infections such as bloodstream infections, meningitis, and necrotizing enterocolitis.

The affected product details are as follows:

• Brand: Baby Gourmet Organic
• Product: Banana Raisin Oatmeal Organic Whole Grain Baby Cereal
• Size: 227 g
• UPC: 6 28619 10003 6
